Does anyone have good advice on city planning without the repetitiveness of grids? I am tired of using grids in my city.

You can try adapting your grid to the different sizes of buildings as well as the terrain itself.

My way to do this:
Place some roads(2-3), group some nice looking buildings of different sizes together, this usually end up making an L shape block, repeat.
This make my city: Kerwan have very few grids. Not sure about impact on traffic though.

Something like this?
I just start placing a building and put roads around it. There isn't really much to explain

Not sure if that would be practical outside of sandbox, but yeah, I'll try.

My advice is, don't start making huge city literally and instantly. Unless you're pro like Matison (like he did in Royal Coast)
Try making a tiny village first, then grow it up slowly one at a time
