Use Arangasit's historic buildings plugins, use Uber mode, use some props for pedestrian areas...

What I have learned is also to break free of the grid, by what I mean is instead of having blocks and blocks of 5x5 squares mix it up as many different shapes to your road network then fill in the blocks with your zones.

You can draw the outlines of districts using large roads that feature curves. They can follow the topography, highways, train tracks, coast lines, and river edges to give that natural flow you see in real cities.
When you start a new map, it's usually empty, so there will be little guidance telling you not to make a perfect grid. You have to willfully bend and break this kind of style in order to build more well-rounded cities. Plan ahead where large clusters of economic activity and tourism will be so that you have proper connections via roads and public transport.
I personally use the "Network Multitool" mod to easily make perfectly round curves and parallel roads to those curves to still capture most of the available building space. It takes 100 times as long as just plopping down another perfect grid, but it makes the city feel unique to the map I am building it on.

Thanks, but please show some examples (e.g pictures of what you're telling me to do)fukraa020 wrote: ↑01 Dec 2023, 15:02You can draw the outlines of districts using large roads that feature curves. Certainly! Watching tutorials is a great way to improve city-building skills in TheoTown. Many creators on platforms like YouTube provide helpful videos on city planning, infrastructure, and design. These tutorials guide players on creating aesthetically pleasing and functional cities. Learning from others' experiences and tips can significantly enhance your gameplay and creativity.

So, you can use the Europe Extension Pack to make your city look classic. Or, if you want a futuristic city, you could use skyscrapers (but put some, not a lot). And then, enjoy your city! Have a great day! (I apologize if advertisements appear when installing the plugins; I only use TheoTown on a PC.).

Yes so, I would suggest NOT MAKING GRIDS OR BLOCKS but instead make more dead-end/cul-de-sac neighbourhoods and ONLY USE BROKEN GRID for the economic areas.

Also mix the res and com zones and try to mix ind and com zones. Create a gradient.

Not sure if anyons said this, but you should try making replicas of real life cities, you have a goal to make a city now and you won't really feel like your city sucks if its based on how a real life city looks(at least to me, even though i haven't made a replica of a real life city
