32 Old Slip

#1

Post by WarshipPro987 »

Hello Friends! This plugin has had a delayed release due to human error (lol),but thanks to many of you guys, specifically @CommanderABab and @yusuf8a684 , It is ready for the public!

This building has a design that I have always been fond of, it is located on the far reaches of lower manhattan, and looks nice for any city! I bring you, 32 Old Slip!
Let me know how you guys think it turned out, I think this is my best work yet! I made sure to pay attention to detail, as well!

Which is next?
17 State Street, Woolworth Building, The Deutsch Bank Building, or WTC7 (old)
Tell me which one you wanna see first below! :bf

@WarshipPro987 The shape of the building does not look right. Here is a google earth screenshot for reference:

The way you shaped it was like this:

I think you should look at how the building looks like and be more careful when making it to make it look more like the building you are trying to make. I would also suggest making it 4x4 instead of 3x3.

It will stay 3x3, however it will get its shape fixed

UPDATE: building shape was revamped to look better. does this look better or does it need more work? I looked at the old version turning my head sideways and all and went "thats not right!" Lol. Anyways I think this version looks better at the very least

Image

@wetguy this is not an isometric image! It should not therefore be used in an argument that the shape of his isometric image is wrong.

@CommanderABab , I could not find an isometric image of that building, that is why I used a Google Earth image. Even if I could find one, his building would have still looked incorrect compared to it.

@WarshipPro987 , I think it should be 4x4 because it is more to scale. Honestly, look at how tiny your building is compared to other skyscrapers. It will also have more room for detail.

I am going for realism, which is for size as well...
The building isn't all that tall in real life, either

@WarshipPro987 I found something wrong, the details on the roof are wrong (though it's not very important), and the "tower" portion of the building should be as wide as the base. You said you are going for realism right?
About the scale, Theotown does not seem to have any actual scale, so how wide the building should be is based on how each player perceives the scale to be. I imagine this building as being 4x4, but you imagine it as being 3x3.

Realism.... in my book I compare the size of these buildings in relation to the size of the twin towers, and 32 old slip is about a 3rd the size of them. So thats how it is ingame.

Mdk183's twin towers were made in a time when the height limit was much lower than today, so he had to make them intentionally not to scale.
