History of States of Hekoam-Gilera

Post by Mrqwerty »

The State of Hekoam-Gilera is a smallish county in South America.
see here for more: https://theotown.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=9673
It is mostly forest, and has furtile land, but also has deserts and snow in the mountains. The Pacific Ocean is next to the west side of the country with a big gulf (i would make a map if i new how ).
I will post about the history with replies, because im too lazy to post all of it now. B)

In the late 1500s to early 1600s was the Age of Exploration and Discovery. During this time, an explorer named Jacob Hekom (sound familiar?) explored an area in South America. He also found natives living there. The natives claimed that he was a god and worshipped him. Jacob somehow learned their language. They called their land "Gila" because in the language, it means "big tree". The natives grew scared of Jacob and killed him in his sleep. Then they felt remorse for "killing a god" and named their land after him.

Years after, when Jacobs death spread across to Europe, they sent more explorers to kill these natives. But most of the trips ended in failure because they did not know the route that Jacob took years before. They stopped trying to find the country that Jacob had found. But one day, almost a century later, in 1887, a man named Robert Frold found a way to get to the country. After finding "the path", he discovered no more natives. There were broken, abandoned huts and decaying skeletons. He assumed that they died in an epidemic. He took the land as his and named it after Jacob. But pronunciation changed since then, and Robert called it Hekoam.

But, it turned out he did not discover "Gila", there were still natives to the northwest of Hekoam. But by now, thousands of whites were already living in Hekoam. Another European explorer came in 1889 to explore Gila, killed its inhabitants, and took the country as his own. So there then there were two new independent states. One called Hekoam, the other called Gilera (again, pronunciation changed). Then in 1890, the two states agreed to become one unified state.

But they didn't agree on all things. Gilera wanted to be independent again, but Hekoam didn't like that. So a civil war started. The war only lasted eleven months and Gilera won. Although outnumbered, a battle strategy was used and Hekoam, embarrassed, surrendered. The battle was so embarrassing that Hekoam's general, Daniel Hesed, committed suicide. Gilera was outnumbered 2-10. The two states both became independent again for three more years. Then a treaty was signed for the two states to be one again, but with more rights in both states. It was signed on April 26, 1895. The two states agreed on the rights, but those who hated them fled the country, and started the Republic of Jeteavo, and they hated the new Hekoam-Gilera. This treaty was called "The New Law".
