Re: Modular Park Sets by mdk_813 [park] UPDATE
So guys,
I've got a BIG one for you today:
The Modular Park Set by mdk_813
This set is so extensive, I decided to split it up into five parts. You can download all of them or you can select the parts that you want and leave out those which you do not need or want.
In total the sets contain 94 individual pieces that are grouped in 27 entries in the park menu. This might seem a bit overwhelming but I tried to group them logically, so don't worry.
----
Before we look closer at the different sets, here is some possibly useful advice about placing puzzle tiles, as I understand that this can get tedious:
It is usually a good idea to determine the rough shape of what you want to build by placing the corner pieces first. This helps in deciding which pieces need to be put in which spot. Then you continue with intersections and if provided endpieces. Finally, you place the straights. Following these steps could probably spare you from having to switch back and fourth between different pieces all the time
----
So, here is a rundown of what the sets contain:
- Modular Park pt.1 (Trees):
This Set can be considered the basic Starter Set. It contains simple 1x1-park lots. a lot with grass, some different trees and palms and a flowerbed.
The trees were originally made by Lobby and Theo, I simply adjusted the tree foundation in some of the lots. The grass, the palms and the flowerbed are mine. Actually, the palms can be also found in my palms and bushes plugin for the terrain menu which you can find here: http://www.theotown.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=58&t=3739
The concrete texture is modeled to align with Lobby's and Theo's concrete-park tiles, but it is infact a different texture generated by me. The palms come both on the grass texture and on the concrete texture. The latter allow you to use them between the lanes of avenues for example.
- Modular Park pt.2 (Parkway):
This Set contains a number o1x1-tiles that allow you to create parkways and squares. It uses the same concrete texture which blends in with the one by Lobby and Theo.
The slim parkway iincludes straights, straights with bench and lamp. corners, crossings and T-intersections.
The wider Square-pieces include Straights, straights with bench and lamp, outside and inside corners, T-Intersections and semi-T-Intersections (which open up to the left or the right respectively). All of these square-pieces allow you to place original park-tiles from the game next to them in order to create, as the name suggests, larger squares.
Update:
@KoalaGuy turned the narrow parkway into a road, which you can find here:

Thank you!

- Modular Park pt.3 (Hedges):
This Set contains puzzle pieces for hedges on 1x1 tiles. It includes straights, a crossing, corners and T-Intersections
UPDATE:
@KoalaGuy made a linetool version of the hedges:
http://www.theotown.com/forum/viewtopic ... 806#p63804
Thank you very much!
- Modular Park pt.4 (Monuments):
This Set contains a statue of Augustus and an Egyptian Obelisk on 1x1- and on 2x2 tiles respectively.
Again, the concrete texture blends in with the parks by Lobby and Theo.

...
- Modular Park pt.5 (Brickwall):
This set, finally contains pieces for a brickwall with metal bars. It includes straights, corners and endpieces. The walls come on the grass texture to use them as part of a park and also without a ground texture to use freely in your city (for example to create gated communities etc.)
Well, that's it.
Have fun!
UPDATE:
By request of @KoalaGuy I'd like to publish a linetool version of my brickwall. It also inludes a new grey version! You can use both the old puzzle pieces and the new linetool at the same time.
The new walls don't have a ground texture. So, I recommend using Josh's decals with them: http://www.theotown.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=76&t=4654

Re: Modular Park Sets by mdk_813 [park]
Wow..... Amazing as usual
But uhhhh..I think if would be better if you rid of all green grasses in your frames And add "draw ground" code to your json, it makes your frames blend with surrounding colours And make your frame looks prettier even in Winter mode..
Don't take it so seriously... Its just a suggestion

Re: Modular Park Sets by mdk_813 [park]
Thank you all for your compliments!
I really appreciate it and I'm glad you like it. As you can imagine, it was quite a lot of work
But no, I'm sorry, most likely there won't be any "draw ground", except of course for the brickwalls, which already have that option.
I deliberately decided to make my own grass texture, that looks like a real, well-taken-care-of lawn that has a rich green color, and not just like plain, shrubby grass. You can look it up, in my very first post in this forum, quite some months ago, I suggested a 1x1-tile with such a lawn. As this was never made by anybody, I at some point decided to create it myself. That was the starting point of all you see above.
Also, I don't think that the default ground texture is really very pretty at all. But that is not meant as a negative, because I'm pretty sure it wasn't designed for that. It was meant to look like a general green or grassy ground, that might develop naturally. And it does that job very well. It does not fit, however, to the park that I had in mind.

Re: Modular Park Sets by mdk_813 [park]
However, I want to give you a tip:
You now have the frame "frame alignment" code as described here http://www.theotown.com/forum/viewtopic ... ent#p40881 . It saves you a lot of time. Because then you can place these things like roads and that saves us also a lot of time building it .
And for the pictures you can use this to put all your frames in one picture:
It means you can place 16 frames in one picture to save also a lot of time.

I am aware of this feature but I was not able to test it yet. My current version of the game only has the military fence in decorations, but that does not work properly. So, I refrainded from using this feature for the time being.

Re: Modular Park Sets by mdk_813 [park]
Wow that's cool.
This park really looks very well maintained and modern. The color of the grass is well chosen, the monuments are well drawn.
Did you draw them yourself, can you tell me who served as the prototype?
I would like to use some elements in my plugin if you do not mind?
It looks really new,nice work

Yes, I drew the monuments myself. Of course I used photos as reference. The statue is based on "Augustus of Prima Porta" in Rome and the Obelisk is inspired by the "Obelisk of Luxor" in Paris.
See here:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luxor_Obelisk
Of course you can use elements of this set in your plugins. As long as you credit me in the json and in the forum it's fine
But remember that the trees are Lobby's and theo's, so if you use those, you would have to credit them.

If you haven't already, maybe you should release your custom grass files so we can make our areas match your park tiles.

It is already included in the Modular Park pt.1 set. The image is called Grass_A_1x1.png.KINGTUT10101 wrote: ↑29 Jul 2017, 16:41If you haven't already, maybe you should release your custom grass files so we can make our areas match your park tiles.
