Shading help
Attached is my current project: a Philippine Baroque church and convent. However, I am not content with the shading here (in Pixly, I used 10 or 25% opacity black for shading, in a different layer.)
Can anyone check my work for flaws, and can anyone make it better? I have the original .anim file, and maybe I can link it to you.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Shading help
Very nice work!
The details are fine, I think.
I would probably recommend using a somewhat lighter grey on the walls (the whole building looks quite dark), and a much less saturated red for the roofs.

Re: Shading help
Okay, I've made some quick adjustments.
What I've changed is this:
- applied graduation curves to the walls
- desaturated the roofs and wooden parts (probably still not ideal)
- added noise to the roofs
- made some minor fixes
You should put the building on a nice ground texture, and maybe add some trees or lamps and people etc.
Also, you could consider making a version with just the church part.

Re: Shading help
I would place people outside; in fact, I plan on drawing a procession. Also, I considered making a seperate church and convent, but it did not fit a reasonable size (4×4), and settled on a 6×6. However, the extra space made it feel wasteful, so I made a filler convent building.
Do you have a .json file of that?

Re: Shading help
Oh, by .json I meant .anim or other form of layered image.

Re: Shading help
No sorry, I just have a PSD-file. I'm not sure if pixly can open these.
But it is nothing special really. Just some adjustment layers.
You can continue working with the PNG I've posted just as well. Just erase or replace the ground texture and add details. If you want to make two separate versions copy the image and work from there.

Re: Shading help
Looks good, don't you think?
Maybe make the grass a bit less blueish. You could also add a thin light grey line around the grass as a curbstone. This would look more tidy.
Also add some people and shadows!

Re: Shading help
Did as suggested. Added a small ceremony outside the church doors: an Eucharistic adoration led by a prelate. Also some lamp-posts.
