Car route

So say I make a decoration or whatever and I make cars spawn from it, how does their pathfinding work? Is it random or is there a pattern?

I think it is like CS.
You place something down.
I've seen residential cars drive to my industry, and they disapear.
Then later they re-apear and drive back.

I also build a bridge bypass to another part of the city, and i saw cars drive right over it.
So if i am correct, they have routes to follow in the computer.

Is there a way to make them free roam like ES?

Why don't you make a unique car for them and see what happens.
