It would help if you included a screenshot or the error.log.

The red dots are the color of that bus route. The yellow arrow probably takes you back to the bus depot when you have placed the last bus stop on the route instead of leaving you over the bus stop. Upgrade for a bus route increases its capacity, speed, and size of the bus.
